His wife, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Jodie<\/strong><\/span>, has quit her job to care for the one-time on-air larrikin, who rose to fame as one-half of Club Veg in the 1980s, 1990s and Noughties.<\/p>\n<p>Davies, who has a five-year-old with Jodie as well as three older children, hit the big time on <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Triple M<\/strong><\/span> after getting his break on the ABC\u2019s youth broadcaster <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Triple J<\/strong><\/span> before moving to <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">2SM<\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>He was partnered with long-time mate,<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> Malcolm Lees<\/span><\/strong>, and the duo had a stranglehold on the ratings in the drive-time slot until <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Triple M <\/span><\/strong>cancelled the show after five years in 2002 (which they had done previously \u2013 go figure!)<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Their <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u201csucked-in calls\u201d<\/span><\/strong> and <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>musical sledges<\/strong><\/span> paved the way for various talking heads that followed as well as the current crop of TV comedian such as <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><em>The Chaser<\/em><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Davies has already gone through two rounds of chemotherapy and friends say he is doing as well as can be expected.<\/p>\n<p>A host of big radio names \u2013 past and present \u2013 will get together for the <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cNot Too Foul\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/strong> fund-raiser next month, including radio legend <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Doug Mulray<\/span><\/strong>, who ruled the airwaves in the late 80s and early 90s.<\/p>\n<p>For those who like their radio history, Club Veg filled Mulray\u2019s very big shoes when he quit radio in 1992, but the comedy couple lasted a year. They were resurrected five years later and turned out to be hugely successful.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Vega 93 <\/span><\/strong>breakfast co-host <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Mikey Robins<\/span><\/strong> (who also happens to be my next door neighbour) will MC the event with <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Rob Duckworth<\/span><\/strong>. Expect to see the affable <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Jonesy and Amanda<\/span><\/strong>, <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Nanna, Ugly Phil<\/span><\/strong> and <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Stuart Cranney <\/strong><\/span>as well performances by \u00a0<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Ian Moss<\/span><\/strong> and <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>The Choirboys<\/strong><\/span>. <em><strong>Not Too Foul <\/strong><\/em>will be held at the <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Bridge Hotel<\/span><\/strong> in <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Rozelle<\/strong><\/span> on<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> August 6<\/span><\/strong>.
